Easily fill the best puppy training classes in town—yours

Make teaching puppy training classes easy, fun, and effective with Open Enrollment R+ Puppy class curriculum

Why dogbiz Puppy Class

Fill your classes, and keep them that way

Stop running classes half full or losing students to cancellations or postponements due to low enrollment.

Open enrollment

If there’s room, students can start anytime. That means no more waiting for them, and no more lost opportunities for you. And that means you make more money.

Maximize socialization success & compliance

Actively guided play, real life-based exercises, and new pups and people joining each week give puppies a rich array of socialization experiences during class—and Operation Socialization means more socialization outside of class, too.

Operation Socialization® Puppy Passports

We built Operation Socialization’s famous Puppy Passport program into our puppy curriculum to keep your students socializing their pups throughout the week. (It’s a great marketing program, too!)

Teach all levels of puppies and students together

Experienced students with first-time puppy owners? No problem. First week students with week 5 or 6 students? You’ve got this.

Self-contained lesson plans

Put an end to mini lessons for each student. Our innovative curriculum lets all students and puppies participate in the same exercises together.

Keep students coming back for more

Finish class with the same number of students you started with, and get more of those students to take your next class, too—and the one after that.

Real-life themes

Building each week’s activities around problem solving a real-life situation—like stress-free vet visits, easy grooming, and successful walks—keeps students engaged and motivated to join you after graduation for Basic Manners.

Save your time and end your stress

No more need to reinvent the wheel, piece together your classes from other trainers’ plans, rush to prep tonight’s lessons, or stress as you “wing it.”

A fully planned, scripted curriculum allows you to teach easily and with confidence, and promotes professional consistency among all trainers on your staff.

Build R+ compliance in your community

Written by experienced R+ trainers and professional curriculum developers, dogbiz Puppy class creates enthusiastic student buy-in for positive reinforcement training.

Your students learn the skills they need with exercises designed to gently, effectively break down old training habits and commonly held training and behavior myths.

Give your students better training results

Tired of hearing students complain, “He only behaves in class!”? Our real-life based curriculum teaches students how to get training success outside your classroom—where it counts most.

Goal-based curriculum

A focus on teaching people in addition to puppies means your students learn the skills they need to handle new situations—like situational awareness, working at their puppy’s level (criteria setting), and problem solving.

What trainers say

“Just had our first group of graduates from puppy class. In our exit questionnaire, they all commented that they were much more prepared to deal with ‘stuff’ in the real world. Oh, by the way, I just had to add a second class!”

–Debbie Oliver, Miss Daisy’s Dog Camp, Tomball, TX

“My puppy revenues are up compared with last year. In the past I’d lose 4-5 weeks of signups because I was in the middle of a session. Now I have a roster filled to the gills. This is one of the best investments I ever made for my business.”

–Barb Levenson, Barb Levenson Dog Training, Oakmont, PA

“Open enrollment has really rocketed sales of our Basic and Puppy classes. We’ve doubled since we made the change. I had always wanted to try it but didn’t know how. The dogbiz packages make it easy.”

–Donna Savoie, Pack of Paws Dog Training LLC, Southbridge, MA

Puppy Class System Requirements & FAQ

Can I access your curriculum from my Mac and PC?

Yes. If you’re on a PC you’ll need Microsoft Word. If you’re a Mac user, you can use Word or Pages.

I have a class starting this weekend. How fast can I get my new curriculum?

No worries! You’ll receive an immediate order confirmation email with a download link as soon as you complete your purchase.

What age group is your puppy curriculum designed for?

Trainer’s choice—set your age limit according to your own preferences. The curriculum is appropriate for very young puppies all the way through adolescence. Many trainers use our puppy curriculum for both their Puppy 1 and Puppy 2 (or Puppy and Adolescent) classes, simply dialing back the amount of socialization play for the teenagers as needed.

Who writes the dogbiz curriculum?

Co-founders Veronica Boutelle and Gina Phairas develop and write all dogbiz curriculum. Veronica has a master’s degree in Education and previously taught graduate courses in curriculum development, and also trained teachers. Gina developed and taught curriculum for Jean Donaldson’s original SF/SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers. Both Veronica and Gina also have extensive experience teaching dog training classes.

Do I have to offer open enrollment to use dogbiz curriculum?

Not at all. The dogbiz Puppy curriculum works just as well as a traditional sequential format with all students starting and ending class on the same dates together.

Do I have to use Operation Socialization Puppy Passports?

No. Our curriculum is designed to be effective with or without them. That said, we think you’ll be hooked. Try your complimentary starter pack and then do the math—for a class of 8 pups you’ll pay just $3 per class session for increased socialization compliance and a great marketing boost.

Does your puppy curriculum include an orientation session without dogs?

Yes. We include curriculum for an orientation session and strongly recommend including one. How you do so is up to you—we include notes about group orientation or providing private one-on-one orientations. Some trainers are offering theirs by video, too.

What training methodologies are used?

All of our curriculum is based solidly in positive reinforcement. It can be taught with or without the aide of clickers.
